Breakfast and corporation meeting set for November 19

Hello Snow Lakers: I hope you had a good week. It feels like fall is here to stay a while. Fall is time to prepare for spring. This is cleanup and spruce-up time. Survey your garden; make notes of what worked and what didn’t. Clean up flower beds. Replenish compost that has decomposed over the summer. One thing you can do to improve your garden is to add instant color by planting fall flowers like pansies.

Now through November is time to plant and dig up bulbs. Divide and transplant perennials. Then you will be ready for spring.

Scelette Blake on Lake View Drive is improving slowly from having surgery on her back. Get well soon, Scelette. We extend our sympathy to the Ronald and Idlett West family. Idlett’s mother, Estella Daniel died last Friday at Baptist Hospital East. The funeral was in Bolivar, Tenn. the following Monday. Ms. Daniel had three other children, with one living in this area; Brenda Cox. If you know of anyone sick or needing help please call Sue Graves, 224-3264. If you know of someone I have missed, please call me at 224-3913.

The Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies’ Auxiliary still has a few sweat shirts, jackets at a reduced price, and cookbooks $9.50. This is a good time to purchase these items - Fall is here! They are on display at the Ashland Discount Outlet on Hwy. 4, Town Hall, or call Jane Edwards at 224-3435.

I mentioned last week that I had seen lots of people fishing lately and asked if they would share their favorite spot with us. As if I expected them to do it. Well, I did hear from one of my favorite Snow Lakers; “I would be glad to share my experience with other Snow Lakers. I catch fish in the water, so if you are not on or near the water you won’t catch fish.” Can you believe his answer? He got to thinking about it, so he sent me another inspiring note “The thing to remember is what is important when you are fishing, and why you are doing it. Always remember that you are fishing because you enjoy it. Thus, it is the fishing that is important. Catching is nice too, but fishing is the important part. After enough fishing the catching will come naturally.”

We have some new property owners, so when you see them please stop and say hello, and by all means, invite them to our meetings and potluck.

We missed potluck last week, but I heard they had a good crowd. Some were new property owners. Plan to come every month.
