Community Center available for rental

Hello Snow Lakers: I hope you had a good week. I told you recently about the beautiful trumpet plant at the Graves’s house. Well, you must go by Margaret and Billy Morton’s house and see their ‘Confederate Rose’ and their large pumpkins. The rose is gorgeous, but doesn’t look like a rose. It’s a large bush with large red flowers. Go take a look!

An amusing thing happened this morning. My husband and our cat, Sweetie, came to tell me it was time to get up. I leaned over and kissed the cat - I think something is wrong with our relationship. However my husband didn’t notice until I pointed it out.

Scelette Blake on Lake View Drive is improving slowly from having surgery on her back. She is doing very good considering the extensive surgery she had. I just heard that Jan Glasser on Snow Lake Drive broke her arm playing tennis. Get well soon Jan. We want to extend our sympathy to the McCrady family. Joe McCrady passed away Sunday morning at home after a long illness. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, October 19 at 3 p.m. at Liberty Methodist Church on Liberty Road. Joe was a good husband and father, and I know Peggy will miss him greatly. Snow Lakers will surely miss him because of his willingness to do anything that needed to be done on Snow Lake. He served on the Corporation Board for many years; was security guard on the lake; was a member of the Fire Department; helped with the Bluegrass Festival; and many more things that I have forgotten at this moment. We will be thinking of Peggy and the family. If you know of anyone sick or needing help please call Sue Graves 224-3264. If you know of someone I have missed, please call me at 224-3913.

The Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies’ Auxiliary still has a few sweat shirts, jackets at a reduced price, and cook- books, $9.50. This is a good time to purchase these items. They are on display at the Ashland Discount Outlet on Hwy. 4, Town Hall, or call Jane Edwards at 224-3435.

I have seen lots of people fishing lately. Have you caught enough for a fish fry yet? When you do, be sure to call me. If you have a favorite spot and would like to share it with other Snow Lakers, call me and I will put it in the paper. Yeah, can’t you see sharing that info. with others?

We have some new property owners, so when you see them please stop and say hello, and by all means, invite them to our meetings and potluck.

Our Quote: From the booklet “Gentle Thoughts.” “The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.”

Have a good week.
