Calendar of Events


  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be held at the permanent site, 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.


  • BINGO Collins Hurdle Post No. 5697 VFW has bingo every Thurs. Doors open at 6 p.m.
  • MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at Trinity Mission, Jan. 27. All members are to bring markers and scissors, Box Top for Education points, coupons and Jan. dues. If not able to attend, please call Mary Hicks, 252-5920.
  • KICK-OFF PARTY Everyone is invited to the Relay for Life Kick-Off party at the Marshall County Library on Gholson Ave. in Holly Springs, Thurs., Jan. 27, 6 p.m. Please be in attendance if you plan to have a team. Come enjoy the food and fellowship and learn more about this American Cancer Society event.


  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s new thrift store, Second Time Around, will be open Fri., from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., 126 W. Van Dorn.


  • “Wild-Game Night Out” at the Byhalia United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, January 29 at 6 p.m. Proceeds to the Family Enrichment Center Fund Raising Committee.   • LADIES CONFERENCE Bibleway Outreach Fellowship, Hwy 178 W, hosts a ladies conference, 10 a.m., Sat., Jan. 29.

  • BROWN BAG LUNCH At the Marshall County Library, 12 noon. The program will be presented by Mrs. Mike Lynn, who will talk on the singing career of her daughter Lucia. The program will include short excerpts from audio recordings. Bring a sandwich; drink and dessert provided.

  • WORKSHOP A workshop to prepare for the Marshall/Benton County Job Fair will be held at the Marshall County Library and at the agricenter in Ashland on Feb. 3. Neal Springer will be in Holly Springs at 10 a.m. and Leigh Nelson will be in Ashland at 1 p.m. Preregistration will be handled by Catholic Social Services in Holly Springs. To preregister for the workshop, please call Evelyn Fant, receptionist, at 252-1336. Drop-ins will be welcomed at the workshops. The Job Fair will be held March 1.

  • BENEFIT Emory Independent Methodist Church, 872 Watson Rd., Byhalia will have their annual St. Jude Benefit, Sat., Feb. 12 with a catfish meal. They will begin serving at 5 p.m. and stop at 8 p.m. $10 for adults, $5 for 10 and under. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For more info. call 838-2367.
  • SINGING Emmanuel Baptist Church, Red Banks Rd., will host a gospel singing Feb. 12, featuring the Weaver Family from Wynne, Miss. Fellowship supper at 5, singing at 6. Everyone is invited.
