Lady Cardinals sweep New Site The Potts Camp softball team moved to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the district after defeating New Site Thursday night at New Site in two games, 9-5 and 7-2. Ashton Gandy led the Lady Cardinals with a triple in the first bat of the night which gave the Lady Cardinals a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Potts Camp scored one run in the third and led 3-0 after two innings. The Lady Cardinals stalled until the sixth inning when it scored five runs to raise the score to 8-2. New Site scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh, and the game ended in a 9-5 victory for the Lady Cardinals. Ashley Colella pitched and registered three strikeouts in the game. The defense was the strength of the game, according to coach Tim Carter. Leading hitters were Beth White, Brooke White and Stellana Taylor, all going three of four. Getting two hits each were La’Trece Walker, Alana Hale and Lindsay White. The nightcap ended in a 7-2 decision for Potts Camp. Ashley Colella pitched again and registered three more strikeouts in the second game. Five Lady Cardinals had two hits each – Rebekah Martin, Walker, Hale, Brooke White and Brittany Nichols. Potts Camp was scheduled to play Marshall County rival H.W. Byers at H.W. Byers on Tuesday. The Lady Cardinals will play East Union on Thursday at Potts Camp with a varsity game at 5 p.m. and a junior varsity game to follow. Next Tuesday, Sept. 27, they go to Ashland. Report News:
