Junior Patriots defeat Marvell

The Marshall Academy junior high Patriots evened their season mark at 2-2 last week with a 26-14 victory at home over Marvell, Ark.

MA went up 6-0 in the first quarter, thanks to Hunter Bolden’s 6-yard touchdown run. A try-for-two was unsuccessful.

The Patriots padded their advantage early in the second quarter. Tyler Childers grabbed a loose football and returned it 80 yards to the end zone. Taylor Dempsey ran for the two-point conversion. It was 14-0, and that score stood until the halftime break.

Early in the third, Childers threw to Harris Gholson for a 17-yard touchdown on fourth down. The try-for-two failed.

Marshall ended its scoring on Joey Brock’s 38-yard punt return. The try-for-two was unsuccessful. The Patriots were in command 26-0.

The Eagles scored two late touchdowns and one two-point conversion to trim the final deficit.
