Snow Lake News

Dedicated individuals give support

Hello Snow Lakers: I hope you had a good week. We are really home from vacation - back to washing, ironing, dusting, moving furniture around, and a little cooking (it’s surprising how much food you can find in the freezer). I guess, after two weeks, I have gotten over jet-lag. I don’t have an excuse to lay around and watch television.

We want to extend our sympathy to William Thompson, who lives on Lake View Drive; his father died last week. John Pierpont on Snow Lake Drive has spent some time in rehab in Holly Springs. I just heard that Joe McCrady isn’t up to par at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the above families. If you know of anyone sick or needing help please call Sue Wooley Graves, 224-3264. If you know of someone I have missed, please call me at 224-3913.

I’m sure most of you know that we have dedicated, concerned, considerate and helpful residents at Snow Lake. Virginia Faye Ivester-EMT has just returned from a five day trip with Rural Metro Ambulance Services; from Gulfport to New Orleans, taking care of the sick and homeless. She is home now, but may return later. Thanks Faye for your good work! Also, our fire chief, Flake Farmer left Tuesday with a truckload of school supplies, going to Gulfport. Good luck, Flake!

Mark your calendar! Saturday, October 1. The Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the fire station. Plan to attend.

The VFD Ladies’ Auxiliary still has a few items of clothing that has been reduced in price for quick sale - sweat shirts $8 all sizes, jackets $20 all sizes, cookbooks $9.50. They are on display at the Ashland Discount Outlet on Hwy. 4, Town Hall, or call Jane Edwards at 224-3435.

The Community Center is having a garage sale on October 8, so start saving your discards. All the proceeds will go to making improvements on the building and grounds. For contributions, call Emily Koen, 224-8707; or Joan Martinez, 224-8032.

Coming Events:

Saturday, Sept. 17 - 7 - 9 a.m. Breakfast followed by corporation meeting at 9 a.m.

Saturday, Sept. 24 - 6:30 p.m. - Potluck

Monday, Oct. 3 - 7 p.m. - Town Meeting

Remember, guests are always welcome to come to any of our events.

Also, remember, the Community Center is available for rental to Snow Lake residents for a party, etc; just contact Emily Koen at 224-8707.

Our Quote. From the booklet “Gentle Thoughts.” “Talk happiness. The world is sad enough without your woe. No path is wholly rough.”

Have a good week, and hope to see you next week.
