Junior high Pats pound Colts

The Marshall Academy junior high Patriots had no trouble with visiting Bayou Academy Thursday night.

MA scored early and often in a 40-6 rout of the Colts.

First quarter touchdowns came on 17-yard and 28-yard runs by Taylor Dempsey and a 43-yard pass play from Tyler Childers to Spenser Autry. Hunter Bolden ran for a two-point conversion. The Patriots led 20-0.

Marshall upped its lead to 28-0 by halftime. Bolden, back in punt formation, recovered from a high snap and ran 93 yards along the left side for the touchdown. Chad Mitchell cashed in the two-point conversion.

Second-half scores for the Patriots came on a 7-yard run by Dempsey and a 68-yard scamper on a reverse by Hank Owens.

The junior high Patriots improved to 1-1. They travel to Kirk Academy this Thursday night. Game-time is 7 p.m.
