Thursday

  • LESSYE LEE DAVIS 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library, 6 p.m. to complete project started at the last meeting. Bring your dues, coupons and Betty Crocker points. Parents interested in their child, ages 8-19, joining are cordially invited.

Friday

  • LESSYE LEE DAVIS 4-H CLUB will have an arts and crafts display on the courthouse lawn. Time will be announced.
  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, 126 W. Van Dorn, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.
  • EXHIBIT DAY The Marshall County MHV members will be holding their annual exhibit day on Sept. 9 on the courthouse lawn. The exhibits will be judged at 9:30 a.m. and will be for sale after the judging. The MHV members would like to invite everyone to come by to see their exhibits.   • REUNION Bumpas family reunion, Wall Doxey State Park Lodge, Sat., Sept. 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. RSVP by Aug. 25. All relatives and in-laws of Benjamin Franklin Bumpas and Mary Eliza Smith Bumpas are invited to bring their memories, photo albums and stories to this get-together.   • HUMMINGBIRD PROJECT The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will provide volunteer service to the Hummingbird Project at Strawberry Plains. Please wear your 4-H polo shirts or 4-H t-shirts.
  • GOSPEL SINGING will be held at Emmanual Baptist, Red Banks Road. Featured group will be Servant Heart. Fellowship supper at 5 p.m., singing at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited.

  • MEETING The Holly Springs High School Class of 1981 will meet at Pizza Hut at 5 p.m. to start planning for their 25th class reunion. All alumni are encouraged to attend.
  • 50 STATES PROGRAM Chulahoma MB Church, Sun., Sept. 11, 3 p.m. Minister Alta Ware, Liberty MB Church, Coldwater, will be guest speaker. Rev. John E. Booker Jr., pastor.
  • MUSICIAN APPRECIATION Rising Star Church, Sept. 11, 3 p.m. with guest church Tabernacle of Praise MB Church from Memphis, Tenn. Everyone is invited to attend.
  • WOMEN’S DAY PROGRAM Asbury UMC will host their annual Women’s Day Program, 10:30 a.m. Rev. Cassandra Owens, Rust College Chaplain, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.
  • ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY will be held at Providence MB Church, 10:45 a.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor LaDaryl Odum, Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Everyone is invited. Pastor is Alonzo Johnson, and sponsors are Lillian Johnson and Shelia Walton.

  • PRAISE WEEK Pleasant Hill CME Church will have a week of praise. Speaker will be Rev. Equator Benton of Believers in Faith Church, Memphis, Tenn. 7:30 p.m. nightly. Rev. Willie Hoey, pastor.

  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be open at 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.
  • ADOPTION SEMINAR Bethany Christian Services hosts a free seminar on the second Tuesday of each month at noon. This month the meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Christ Presbyterian Church (1720A University Ave. Oxford, MS 38655. Behind Pitner Office Supply).   • FLEA MARKET The Northwest Side Civic Club is hosting a flea market on Sat., Sept. 17 starting at 7 a.m. until. All venders are invited to set up a booth. Inside booths are $15 and outside are $10. Concessions will be open at 6 a.m. All proceeds will go towards the re-opening of the ball field. Call Sherry Moore, 662-526-5773 to reserve your booth. Inside booths are limited, so reserve today. The civic club is located just off Hwy 310, at the Piney Point sign, about 12 miles from Hwy 7 South.
  • FORESTRY FIELD DAY Marshall County Forestry Association will hold their 9th annual Forestry Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 17 in the northwest part of the county starting with registration at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is required by calling the Marshall Co. Extension Service at 662-252-3541 by Sept. 12. Events will include wagon tours of the Tree Farm with educational topics by specialists on Wildlife, Forest Fertilization, Hardwood Management, Management Practices in Thinned Pines, and Firewise. A keynote speaker will close out the activities.
  • SINGING Sat., Sept. 17, Clear Creek Baptist Church, Lamar. Fellowship 6 p.m., singing, 7 p.m. Featured group, Picking Up The Pieces. Jimmy Curle and congregation invite all.

September 18

  • HOMECOMING will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1580 Hwy. 309 South. Sunday School, 9:45 a.m., worship 11:00 a.m. Fellowship dinner after morning services, followed by preaching and singing. All are welcome.
  • FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY True Vine MB Church, 525 West St., Holly Springs, Sept. 18, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Rondias Cox and Mt. Peel MB Church will be guests. All are invited to fellowship with us.

September 19

  • MEETING Collins Hurdle Post No. 5697 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold their regular stated meeting on the third Monday night, 6 p.m. at the Post Home.

  • REVIVAL Barton United Methodist Church hosts a revival Sept. 25-28, Potluck will be held Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Refreshments will be served after Wednesday night services. Rev. Larry Kelso of Stutgart, Ark. will be guest speaker. Bro. Waid Wilkes is pastor.

  • CONCERT Zebedee Jones and Rust College Acapella Choir will be in concert at Hopewell No. 1 M.B. Church, 365 Bonner Street, 7 p.m. Henderson Milan and Etoyil Long, sponsors; Rev. Leroy James, pastor; and Pat Boga, mistress of ceremonies.

October 7

  • MEETING Marshall County Retired Education Personnel will meet at the Library, 1 p.m.
  • MEETING Hopewell No. 1 Church will have a conference, 7 p.m. Pastor James urges all members to be present.

October 8

  • WHITE OAKS FESTIVAL Sat., Oct. 8, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Byhalia’s White Oaks Festival featuring crafts, food, games, activities for kids, raffles, entertainment, and prizes. Applications for booth spaces are $25 and can be obtained by calling 838-2806 (Janice) or 838-8147 (Brandy) or stopping by the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce office.
  • BAKE SALE Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will hold their annual bake sale at Wal-Mart, 8 a.m. until the desserts run out. We accept donations. Recruitment booth, parents invited to sign your child up, ages 8-19.

October 29

  • 2005 HARVEST FEST sponsored by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce will be held on the historic downtown square, 10 a.m. u ntil. Arts and crafts, food vendors, singing, merchants’ open houses, door prizes. Join the fun.
