Community Center available to Snow Lake residents for family gatherings, parties

Hello Snow Lakers: I hope you had a good week. We are still on vacation. After leaving Bulgaria, in the early morning hours we will enter the Black Sea Canal and continue cruising toward Constanta, Romania’s chief port. We will gather at night for the captain’s farewell dinner. We disembark ship the next day for the train to Bucharest. The railway from Constanta to Bucharest crosses along the Black Sea-Danube Channel and the Great Romanian Plain, once called the granary of Europe.

The highlight of the railnway is the new bridge over the Danube, from which you can see one of the oldest bridges on the river. The next day we will tour Bucharest by motorcoach. We will have a drink with our new friends and say good-bye. The next day we will catch an early plane (around 6 a.m.) for home. We plan to see all of you for potluck.

Since I am on vacation, I haven’t heard if anyone is sick or in the hospital. I will catch up when I get home. I hope if you know of anyone sick or needing help you’ll please call Sue Wooley Graves at 224-3264.

The Community Center is having a garage sale on October 8, so start saving your discards. All the proceeds will go to making improvements on the building and grounds. For contributions, call Emily Koen, 224-8707; or Joan Martinez, 224-8032.

We must get started again on our Neighborhood Watch program. I mention this so that when you are called to help in some way, you will be aware of the need. Thanks for your help.

Coming Events:

Saturday, Aug. 27 - 6:30 p.m. - Potluck

Monday, Sept 5 - Labor Day - Enjoy!

Wednesday, Sept. 7 - 7:00 p.m. town meeting (if in doubt, call Town Hall).

Our Quote. From the booklet “Gentle Thoughts.” “Next to love, sympathy is the divinest passion of the human heart.”

Have a good week, and hope to see you next week.
