Wednesday

  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be open at 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.
  • OPEN HOUSE The Holly Springs Primary School will host its annual Back to School/Open House night on Wednesday, August 24, from 6-8 p.m. in the school’s activity building. We are encouraging all parents to come out and meet your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, and discuss any issues or concerns.
  • REVIVAL Rising Star Church, Aug. 24-26, 7 p.m. nightly. Guest speaker Tommie Watkins of New Heaven, Rossville, Tenn. Everyone is invited.
  • Awana at Red Banks Baptist Church. Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Please call 252-2114 or 252-7570 for van transportation. We have lots of activities every Wed. night with game time, in the new family life center.Thursday
  • BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Holly Springs Intermediate School, 5th-6th grades, Thurs., Aug. 25, 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. All parents are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
  • LESSYE LEE DAVIS 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library, 6 p.m. to complete project started at the last meeting. Bring your dues, coupons and Betty Crocker points. Parents interested in their child, ages 8-19, joining are cordially invited.

  • QUARTERLY SERVICE Mt. Moriah MB Church, 3193 Marianna Rd., Aug. 26, 7 p.m. with Dr. Marian Talley of Strawberry MB Church as guest speaker. Lecturer will be Sis. Katrina Lane of Soul Winners Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn.
  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.

  • Farmer’s Market, sponsored by the Mississippi Extension Service, Sat., 7-11 a.m. (no early birds). In the Dreamland parking lot, near the old Wal-Mart, Martin Luther King Dr. Fresh veggies and fruits!
  • JOINT REUNION Marshall Academy classes of 1994,1995 and 1996 will hold joint reunion activities on Saturday, August 27. A picnic at Kirkwood National Golf Club will begin at 11 a.m. Cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child. An evening event will also be held at Kirkwood beginning at 8 p.m. Cost is $30 per adult.   • BENEFIT PROGRAM Mt. Pisgah CME Church, 3877 Cayce Road is giving a benefit program on behalf of Dorothy Moore and Pastor Hubie L. Nelson, 6 p.m. Dorothy is presently hospitalized in Memphis. Pastor Nelson is recovering at home from cancer. For more information call 895-5006 or 901-299-0121.
  • Hunter Safety Class, 8 a.m. until. Marshall County Fairgrounds, Hwy. 7 N, Holly Springs. Contact 563-6330 to register for class. Lunch will be provided by the Tri-County Turkey Chapter.
  • BANQUET Anointed Truth Outreach Ministries will host a Pastor and Elect Lady Love Day Banquet honoring Bishop Alan and Prophetess Ethel Lewis at the Chulahoma Community Center, 5 p.m. Guest speaker will be Apostle Donald Chambers of Healing Temple Ministries of Memphis.The program will conclude on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Frank Barksdale of Memphis.
  • SINGING Evangel Full Gospel Assembly Saturday night singing features The Kennedy Family of Wheeler at 7 p.m. There will be other guests and local singers with congregational singing for all.
  • Pulled pork dinner, Sat., Aug. 27, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 3591 Bethel Rd., Olive Branch. Dine-in or carry-out. Sandwiches, sides, dessert and drink. 895-5742.
  • BENEFIT PROGRAM at Jones Grove M.B. Church, 6 p.m., will be held for Bro. Marvin Richmond. Program hosted by New Gospel Community Choir.
  • CONCERT “The Revelation” of Pontotoc will be in concert at the Auction Barn in Potts Camp. Free love offering will be taken.
  • PRE-ANNIVERSARY The Great Wings of Joy Pre-Anniversary will be held at Calvin Chapel United Methodist Church, 7 p.m. A host of male choruses, groups and choirs are invited.

Sunday

  • PROGRAM Rising Star Church will have its annual male chorus program, Aug. 28, 6 p.m. Everyone is invited.
  • ANNUAL PASTOR’S AID PROGRAM will be held at Smith Grove M.B. Church, 2 p.m. Pastor Rondias Cox and Mt. Peel M.B. Church will be special guests. Each and everyone is invited. W.C. Conner is pastor.
  • REVIVAL Holly Hills Baptist Church will be in revival starting Aug. 28 thru Sept. 2. Visiting evangelist will be Bro. Bobby McGilliard and his family. Services will begin each night at 7 p.m. Bro Frank Feathers and congregation would like to invite all.
  • PASTOR’S AID PROGRAM New Hope MB Church, Sun., Aug. 28, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Leroy James of Hopwell No. 1 MB Church will be the speaker. Everyone is invited. Rev. Ernest Jones, pastor.

  • REVIVAL Clear Creek MB Church, Inc., Hwy 6 West, Oxford will hold its summer revival, Aug. 29 - 31, 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Arthur Fitzpatrick of the Mt. Newell MB Church, Red Banks, will be the guest speaker. Rev. Eddie D. Goliday, Sr. pastor.
  • DIABETES WELLNESS MEETING Learn how to control your diabetes, Mon., Aug. 29, 6 p.m. at the David L. Beckley Conference Center, 155 Rust Ave., Holly Springs. Dr. Kenneth Williams will be the speaker. No charge. Everyone is invited.
  • REVIVAL Community Temple Holiness hosts revival Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, 7:30 p.m. nightly. Guest for week will be Bishop Clint Gibson. Host pastor is Elder Frank Moore.

Tuesday

  • COUNCIL MEETING Friendship Assembly of God will be the host church for the annual Northwest Mississippi Assemblies of God Sectional Council. An evening of special ministering in songs, evening meal, and Sectional business. Council begins at 7 p.m.
  • MEMORY WALK Come join Alliance HealthCare System kick off its fifth annual Memory Walk to fight the battle against Alzheimer’s. Persons interested in participating in this year’s event need only attend. Annie’s Restaurant, 12 noon. Please call in advance if you are planning to attend, 551-3386, as lunch will be provided.
  • Fatherhood Workshop Rust College Families First will have its monthly Fatherhood Workshop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Marshall County Library. The topic will be “Dads, Kids, and Self-Esteem: Fathering to Strengthen Self-Esteem in Children.” All moms and dads are invited and refreshments will be served. September 3

  • BREAKFAST AND RUMMAGE SALE will be held at First Baptist Church, Potts Camp, beginning at 7 a.m.
  • REUNION All descendants of Estall Glass Faulkner and the late Annie Glass Craine will hold their annual family reunion Sept. 3 at the home of Eliza Mae Craine, Hwy 309 S, Byhalia. All family and friends are invited.
  • “Keeping The Legacy Alive” of Mother Lettie Moore and the memory of the late Lewis (Chick) Moore, Sat., 1 p.m. and Sun. all day. Come join in fun, food and singing. Rabbit Ridge Road, just off Red Banks Road, 851-7468.
  • SUPPORT GROUP Byhalia United Methodist Church hosts recovery and healing from the loss of a loved one due to divorce support group, 12:15-1:15 p.m. Light refreshments. September 4

  • Anniversary The Great Wings of Joy Anniversary will be held at Dreamland, 6 p.m. A host of groups are invited. Come and help us praise the Lord.

September 6

  • FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY Brown Bag meeting, 11:30 a.m., will featured Marjorie Gerald of the Memphis Speakers Bureau. Her program begins at 12 noon and is titled “White House Stories.”

September 8

  • LESSYE LEE DAVIS 4-H CLUB will have an arts and crafts display on the courthouse lawn. Time will be announced.

  • REUNION Bumpas family reunion, Wall Doxey State Park Lodge, Sat., Sept. 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. RSVP by Aug. 25. All relatives and in-laws of Benjamin Franklin Bumpas and Mary Eliza Smith Bumpas are invited to bring their memories, photo albums and stories to this get-together. September 11

  • MEETING The Holly Springs High School Class of 1981 will meet at Pizza Hut at 5 p.m. to start planning for their 25th class reunion. All encouraged to attend.

September 17

  • FLEA MARKET The Northwest Side Civic Club is hosting a flea market on Sat., Sept. 17 starting at 7 a.m. until. All venders are invited to set up a booth. Inside booths are $15 and outside are $10. Concessions will be open at 6 a.m. All proceeds will go towards the re-opening of the ball field. Call Sherry Moore, 662-526-5773 to reserve your booth. Inside booths are limited, so reserve today. The civic club is located just off Hwy 310, at the Piney Point sign, about 12 miles from Hwy 7 South.

September 18

  • HOMECOMING will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1580 Hwy. 309 South. Sunday School, 9:45 a.m., worship 11:00 a.m. Fellowship dinner after morning services, followed by preaching and singing. All are welcome.

September 19

  • MEETING Collins Hurdle Post No. 5697 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold their regular stated meeting on the third Monday night, 6 p.m. at the Post Home.

September 24

  • BAKE SALE Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will hold their annual bake sale at Wal-Mart, 8 a.m. until the desserts run out. We accept donations. Recruitment booth, parents invited to sign your child up, ages 8-19.
