  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be open at 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.

  • CHURCH ANNIVERSARY Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ will celebrate their 60th anniversary service at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs. and Fri., Aug. 11-12, and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 14. Several guest speakers. Church is located at 100 Overton School Rd., seven miles south of Potts Camp off Hwy 349 in Marshall County. For more info. call 333-7046.
  • Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library. Bring your dues, coupons, and Betty Crocker points. Open Workshop for 4-H members and students ages 8-19: “Focusing on the Positive Things in your Life.” Parents interested in their child becoming a member are invited to attend.

  • PRE-ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM 7:30 p.m. will be held at Mt. Sinai C.O.G.I.C. of Mt. Pleasant for pastor and wife, Elder Curtis and Richenda Pritchard. Special guests will be Elder Connie Wright and the House of Faith Ministries of Somerville, Tenn. Everyone is invited.
  • MEETING Marshall County Retired Education Personnel will meet Fri., Aug. 12, 1 p.m. in the library. Laverne Jones, president, urges all retired teachers and other retired education personnel to attend.
  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.

  • THE MARSHALL COUNTY REPUBLICANS will meet at the Northcentral MS Electric Power Co. on Hwy. 309 S, Byhalia, 10 a.m. Speaker will be Sen. Ralph Doxey. This public is invited.
  • Farmer’s Market, sponsored by the Mississippi Extension Service, Sat., 7-11 a.m. (no early birds). In the Dreamland parking lot, near the old Wal-Mart, Martin Luther King Dr. Fresh veggies and fruits!
  • BENEFIT For Josie Malone, who recently had triple by-pass heart surgery. Sat., Aug. 13, New Hope CME Church in Red Banks, 6 p.m. All choirs and groups are invited. Sponsored by Dorothy Nevels.

August 13

  • SINGING New Hope Baptist Church Hwy. 72 Slayden will be having a gospel singing Saturday night August 13, starting at 7 p.m. Featured group will be The Barnetts from Stanton, Tenn. Bro. Billy Adair and congregation invite everyone to attend. Fellowship supper after singing.

August 17

  • REVIVAL Rising Star Church will have revival Aug. 17-19, 7 p.m. nightly with guest speaker, Pastor Tommy Watkins of New Heaven in Rossville, Tenn. Everyone is invited.

  • BREAKFAST AND RUMMAGE SALE will be held at First Baptist Church, Potts Camp, beginning at 7 a.m.

  • LESSYE LEE DAVIS 4-H CLUB will have an arts and crafts display on the courthouse lawn. Time will be announced.

September 24

  • BAKE SALE Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will hold their annual bake sale at Wal-Mart, 8 a.m. until the desserts run out. We accept donations. Recruitment booth, parents invited to sign your child up, ages 8-19.
