My family spent quite a bit of time over the weekend watching The Weather Channel.
We, as most all in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Louisiana, were concerned about the path of Hurricane Dennis.
How hot is it?
Its hot in Texas! And I may not complain about humidity again for a while either. Its hard to decide if really dry, really hot heat is worse than humid hot heat.
I love Texas though. The nine and one-half hour drive to my nieces house in Whitehouse was not a lot of fun though. My darling granddaughters fussed and squabbled the entire way.
One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingies...
The members of our church are getting used to a new burglar alarm. The old one was disabled by a lightning strike. Not only is the new one cheaper, I do think the sound of the horn is more pleasant this for the sake of our neighbors who have had to endure their share of false alarms.
New columnist from south Scotland
(Writers Note: With this column, The South Reporter in Holly Springs, Miss., USA, launches a sister column from The Southern Reporter, Selkirk, The Borders, Scotland.)
Through many emails and a telly conversation from Scotland, Mark Entwistle and I have become regular correspondents, discussing the similiarities and differences in our two Souths. There are fewer differences than youd suspect!
