named Softball Player of Year Amanda Lindsey of Byhalia was named to The Commercial Appeals Best of the Preps for 2005. She was chosen the 2005 Softball Player of the Year for the Memphis Metro Area. She is a junior at St. Benedict at Auburndale and a scholar athlete. The areas most productive pitcher in terms of wins, Lindsey went 32-5 and had 20 shutouts for a St. Benedict team that finished third in the Division 2 State Tournament. Lindsey, who batted a team-high .490 for the season, won three of the five games she pitched in the state tournament. She will spend most of the summer playing for the 18-and-under Memphis Fusion. Smith receives several horse show honors Nicki Smith, the 11-year-old daughter of Jerry and Karen Smith of Byhalia, is a very accomplished equestrian. Report News:
