  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be held at the permanent site, 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.

  • WELLNESS MEETING The Marshall County Health Network, in conjunction with Western Hills Health partnership, will host a diabetes wellness meeting June 16, 5:30-7 p.m. at the Marshall County Library. The public is invited, there is no charge. Minnie C. Travis of Western Hills Health Partnership is the speaker. For more info., please call her at 662-229-0081.

  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information.
  • FISH FRY Anderson Chapel CME Church will have a fish fry Friday, June 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Plates are $6 and can be eaten there or taken out. Menu: Catfish, spaghetti, slaw, bread, dessert.
  • BAKE SALE Father’s Day bake sale, Fri., June 17, 12 noon on the courthouse lawn. Sponsored by Heritage Apostolic Church.

  • BENEFIT PROGRAM Smith Grove MB Church will have a gospel benefit program for Sis. Marvisteen Harris, Sat., June 18, 6 p.m. Your group, choir or male chorus is asked to come out and help make the program a success. Sponsored by the Smith Grove missionary department.

  • BARBECUE Barton Vol. Fire Dept., June 18, 12-6, 15499 Goodman Rd., in Barton.
  • COOK OUT Young Republicans will host a cook out, June 18, 3 p.m. at Rabbit Ridge Rd., next to race track in Byhalia. Games, food, fellowship, music. The public is invited.

  • NATURE PROGRAM National Trails Day Event on Sat., June 18 beginning at 8 a.m. Trails Day programs include guided bird and naturalist walks and family oriented interpretive hikes. Strawberry Plains Audubon Center has 13 miles of hiking trails. There is no fee for the day of the event and drinks will be provided. Please, no pets allowed.   • KARATE TOURNAMENT Martial Arts University, in conjunction with the Holly Springs Recreational Dept. will host their first annual karate tournament on Sat., June 18 at the Multi-Purpose Center, 235 N.   • REUNION First Smith’s reunion in 25 years. Drew Smith is giving a family reunion at his place on Hwy. 311, Mt. Pleasant, 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Bring a dish, come early and join the family.
  • YARD SALE Senior Citizens will have a yard sale, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Henry Jr. High School. There will be all kinds of homemade items such as quilts, cakes, soap, molasses and lots of miscellaneous.

  • FORESTRY MEETING Marshall County Forestry Association Landowners meeting, Thursday, June 23 at the Marshall Co. Fairgrounds.   • CHRISTMAS STORE FESTIVAL June 23-25 the Marshall County Republican Club will be serving barbecue chicken plates at the Clydesdale Christmas Store Festival in Byhalia. Come by our booth and visit us.

  • GENEALOGY 101, a free interactive class for beginners wanting to research their ancestry, will be held Friday June 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the IT Centre on Hwy 311 (next to Thomas Funeral Home). Personal and family history as well as genealogy research will be the subjects. There is limited seating and RSVP is recommended.   • ELECTION Waterford Vol. Fire Dept. will hold their annual meeting for election of officers on Thurs., June 30, 7 p.m. at the Waterford community center. Fire dues are $15 and all paid households may vote. Dues may be mailed to P.O. Box 65, Waterford, MS 38685. Please come and support our volunteer fire department.

July 1

  • CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION Mt. Moriah MB Church will celebrate their 100th anniversary beginning Sat., July 2, 7 p.m. with a banquet in the Holly Hall at Annie’s Restaurant. Toastmaster will be Girves Holloway of Atlanta, Ga. Rev. Archie Bowen, pastor of Hearn Grove MB Church, will be guest speaker. Climax will be Sun., July 3, 2:30 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Willie J.   • REVIVAL Emory Independent Methodist Church, 872 Watson Road, Byhalia, will have their revival Sun., July 10, through Wed., July 13. Sunday services are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Mon. through Wed. the services are at 7 p.m. The Rev. Bill Moseley from South Carolina is the guest pastor.
