Tuesday ceremony honors Dr. Kenneth Williams
Mississippi’s Small Business Man of the Year 2005, Dr. Kenneth Williams, was recognized by Holly Springs officials and the MSBA at an awards celebration Tuesday in Holly Springs.

Mayor Andre’ DeBerry read a proclamation from the city declaring May 24 as Dr. Kenneth Williams Day in Holly Springs and presented the doctor with a key to the city.

The awards ceremony was sponsored by Mississippi Small Business Administration and hosted by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce.

Paper changes deadlines due to Memorial Day
The South Reporter announces early deadlines for its Thursday, June 2, edition due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The newspaper office will be closed Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

Deadline for all classified advertising is 12 noon this Friday, May 27. Deadline for all display advertising, legals and news is this Friday at 5 p.m.

Spring clean-up continues through end of this month
Marshall County’s Spring Clean-Up 2005 is May 16-31.

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors will provide dumpsters at the following locations for the public’s convenience.

  • Laws Hill Community Center, Potts Camp Fire Department, Chulahoma Community Center, Red Banks Fire Department, Byhalia Fire Department, Matthews Corner voting precinct, Marianna voting precinct, Early Grove Community Center, Mt. Pleasant -The Gin, Cayce Fire Department, Slayden Community Center, Waterford Community Center, Watson Community Center, D and D Grocery, Lake Estates - Scott Drive, Wall Hill Voting Precinct, Bethlehem Community, Victoria Community Center.

Please pitch in and make Marshall County a cleaner place to live, and please, no brush or household garbage.

The Marshall County Rubbish Pit and White Goods Collection Site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

Kudzu Festival scheduled for June 2-4 at Thomas Arena
The 17th annual Kudzu Festival is set for June 2, 3 and 4. The festival, sponsored by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce, will be held near the intersection of Highways 78 and 7, in and around the Thomas Arena.

The 2005 festival will have something for everyone.
