Potts Camp tracksters going to state this week

Potts Camp will be well represented in the state track meet this Friday and Saturday at Pearl.

Several Cardinals and Lady Cardinals qualified by finishing in the top four in events this past Saturday at the North State Championships in Columbus.

The Potts Camp boys finished second in the North Half team rankings with 115 points. They trailed DeSoto Central with 123. Coffeeville took third with 113.

The Potts Camp girls placed third in the North half team rankings with 105.50 points. First place overall went to Coffeeville with 121, and second to Myrtle with 117.

Potts Camp athletes qualifying for State and their North Half finishes follow.

  • Trece Walker – first, long jump, 15’8 3/4”; third, triple jump, 30’1”
  • Erica Tables – fourth, triple jump, 29’3 1/2”; fourth, 100m dash, 13.89; first, 200m dash, 28.46
  • Kayla Reed – second, shot put, 32’9”
  • Cassaundra Hendricks, first, pole vault, 6’6”
  • Amanda Barstow, third, 3200m run, 14:07; third, 1600m run, 6:05 (ties school record held by her); third, 800m run, 2:49
  • Reggie Lesure, third, triple jump, 39’1/2”; fourth, triple jump, 5’7”
  • Jacobye Davis, second, high jump, 5’10”
  • Luther Jones, fourth, triple jump, 37’11”
  • Chris Christian, first, discus, 109’3”; third, shot put, 39’5”
  • Bruce Mapp, first, pole vault, 9’6”
  • Charlie Smith, first, 3200m run, 11:02; third, 1600m run, 5:19
  • Brandon Hendricks, third, 400m dash, 54.41.
  • Brandon Hendricks, Jacobye Davis, Luther Jones, Brian Martin, 4x200 meter relay team, second.
  • Demond Lester, Bruce Map, Jonathan Turnage, Brandon Hendricks, 4x400 meter relay team, second place.
