  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be held at the permanent site, 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.

May 5

  • National Day of Prayer, interdenominational service, May 5, Thursday, 12 noon on the Marshall County Courhouste lawn. Christians across the nation are gathering at their local courthouses. Come join in for a time of prayer for our country and its leaders.

May 6

  • BANQUET The Lessye Lee Davis Banquet will be held at Rust College, Shaw Cafeteria, 7 p.m. The speaker is Dr. David L. Beckley. All members must attend, take off work if necessary.
  • VFW FISH PLATES Fish and barbecue plates will be served at the VFW, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m. until. Also we will be taking orders for whole Boston butts, call 224-5101.
  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pickup information.
  • CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN Spiritual Conference for Women, Mt. Comfort CME Church, Fri., May 6, 7 p.m. Highlights include youth session, adult session and combined session. Refreshments will be served. Rev. Joseph Grantham is pastor. Helen Grantham, first lady.
  • FISH FRY New Gospel Community Choir will host a fish fry, Fri., May 6, 10 a.m. until at the Baptist Assoc. building. Will deliver. Please call 544-4475.

  • 31st ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Holy Family Early Childhood Center hosts its 31st anniversary, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Open house, tour of facility, refreshments, outdoor activities and more planned.

May 7

  • Appreciation/Birthday Celebration for church mother, Lettie Moore, 6:30 p.m. will be held at Community Temple Holiness Church on Mt. Zion Road. Donation: $25 adults, children no charge. Host pastor is Elder Frank Moore, chairperson is Jacqueline Scott.
  • Singing Sat. May 7 at 6 p.m. at Holly Hills Baptist Church. The church is located in Holly Springs, off of Hwy 7 towards Oxford. Featured groups are The Philinda’s Ministry and The Solid Rock Four. Preaching will be Bro. Danny Mosley. Fellowship will follow. Bro Frank and church invite all to come and enjoy.
  • REUNION Joyner family reunion, May 7, Wall Doxey State Park Lodge, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Pot luck, bring enough food for your family. Lunch at 12 noon.
  • MAY DAY PARADE Lessye Lee Davis May Day parade will set up on the MI campus. Grand marshal, Susan Allen-Bell, daughter of Mama Lessye.
  • SINGING, Sat., May 7, 7 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, located 2-1/2 miles off Hwy 72 on Cayce Rd. Everyone is invited.
  • PROMISE & PRAISE May 7, Promise and Praise Women’s Ministry brunch at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 10 a.m. for mothers and fathers, followed by music at 10:45. Rita Mundy and Tina Wilburn. All are invited.

  • CHILD ID PROGRAM Benton County Sheriff’s Department is sponsoring a Child ID Program, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Webster’s Supermarket in Ashland. This service is free to families and completely confidential.

  • Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 11 a.m. A new church, a new beginning, Bethel Temple, at Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center pavilion, 11200 East Goodman Rd. Lee A. Donelson Sr., pastor, teacher.
  • Musical Jubilee -- May 15, 6:30 p.m. at Whispering Woods Pavilion, featuring the New Swan Silvertones of Pittsburgh, Pa. and others. Free admission, love offering will be taken. All are invited.
  • LOVE DAY Pastor and wife love day at St. Mark MB Church in Lake Center. Guest speaker will be Dr. Donald Anderson of Little Zion MB Church in Corinth.
  • Spring Revival at First Baptist Church, Byhalia, will be May 15-18. Guest speaker will be P.J. Scott, retired pastor of First Baptist Olive Branch and Minister of Music Bill Britton of First Baptist Olive Branch. There will be a potluck lunch following the Sunday morning service. Sunday services will be 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7 p.m.
  • WOMEN’S DAY Free Branch MB Church will have Women’s Day, Sun., May 15, 2:30 p.m. Pastor Marvin Brooks, host pastor. Evangelist Ethel Lewis will be the guest speaker.

  • Spring gospel crusade Nightly at 6 p.m., at Whispering Woods Pavilion, May 16-18, Bethel Temple. The seven essentials of prayer, taught by Pastor Lee Donelson,begins nightly at 7:25 p.m. Come and hear the messages of Pastor Carlton Jones of Boston, Mass.

  • MEETING The Marshall County Humane Society will have its monthly meeting at the public library, Holly Springs, 5:30 p.m.

May 21

  • BENEFIT PROGRAM Pleasant Grove MB Church, for Mr. and Mrs. Perlia Mae Burton. May 21, 6 p.m.
  • Anointed Truth Outreach Ministries will be having a three night revival on May 19, 20, 21 beginning at 7:30pm each night. Pastor James Anderson of Fresh Fire Word in Action in Memphis, TN will be speaker. The church is located in Chulahoma at 28 Tyro Road across from the Exxon station. Bishop Alan D. Lewis, Pastor.

May 22

  • VBS Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is holding their Vacation Bible School on May 22 -26 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A light meal will be provided each night. This year’s theme is “Ranch House Kids: Adventure of the Open Door.” You will need to register by May 14. Please call our church office to register at 662-851-7301. Open to ages three and older. Come enjoy songs, games, roping skills, crafts, puppet shows, and Biblical plays.
