Letters
to the Editor
Support
our troops:
Dear Editor and readers,
Please
support our troops now stationed in Iraq by writing to
this address: SPC Randall Cox, Attn: ANY SOLDIER,
NC24/HQ/A/98 CAV/155 BCT, AP AOE 09325 (use regular US
postage).
Last year,
before our local National Guard left, I drove my
decorated tractor in the parade: Democrats Support
the Troops! But I have been too busy to write
regularly. I urge the editor of this paper and readers
who are able, to constantly share the mailing addresses
of various units, like this one which came out of the
Mid-South, (perhaps in weekly community events) so more
of us will regularly be reminded to send cheerful,
uplifting messages to our Troops!
Clippings of
interesting articles and goodies are also appreciated if
writing is difficult. Real support is not a car magnet!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelly Jacobs,
3985 Robertson Gin Rd, Hernando, MS 38632
Looking

Dear Editor,
Please
assist me in publicity to locate Marshall County artists
and artisans.
I received
the following letter, which explains the research.
The contact
point will be the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce. They
may contact me at 662-838-8127 or email byhaliachamber@aol.com or
come by the office at 2452 Church Street in Byhalia.
Thank you.
Sarah Sawyer
Executive Director
Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce
Dear
Sarah,
My name
is Angela Watkins; I am the graduate student at Ole
Miss who called you last week regarding obtaining a
list of artists and craftspeople in Marshall County.
To
recap, I am working on behalf of the Mississippi
Small Business Development Center at Ole Miss. I am
doing academic research on artists and craftspeople
in North Mississippi.
Basically,
we are trying to prove that there is an active arts
and crafts corridor in North Mississippi, but in
order to do that, I need to compile a list of the
names and addresses of artists and craftspeople,
professional, amateur, and even just those who have
taken classes, in order to be eligible for a grant
that will help establish regional craft centers.
We are
just at the planning stages of that project, and I
need to prove that we have the interest and necessary
contacts before we proceed.
We will
not be using these names and addresses for any other
purpose besides research.
Can you
help me with the Byhalia area or even Marshall County
as a whole? I need the list from your area by May 1.
You
would be listed as a contact, or point person for the
project in the area. I remember that you said you had
expressed interest in trying to orgranize artists in
the area before.
Please
get back to me as soon as possible. I realize that
May 1 is not far away, but I also want to stress that
this list is just preliminary and really should just
function as proof to the granting institution.
I say
that because it doesnt have to be exhaustive.
Time is of the essence, but what else is news!
Thanks
so much, and I hope you are having a wonderful sunny
day.
Angela
Watkins
