Calendar of Events

Wednesday

  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be held at the permanent site, 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.
  • April 20-22, 7 p.m. Rising Star MB Church will be having their Spring Revival. Guest speaker will be Rev. Ronnie Strong from New Independence Baptist Church. The church is located at 2519 Higdon Road, 662-252-7507. Pastor is Robert McClain.
  • REVIVAL Christ New Beginning Church will be having their Spring Revival April 20 through 22 at the Baptist Seminary in Holly Springs, 7:30 p.m. Rev. Robert Garrison is the evangelist for the week. Harvey Garrison is the pastor.

Thursday

  • 4-H MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at Trinity Mission, 6 p.m. in preparation for the trip to Houston and Starkville.
  • SINGING Fourth Sat. night singing at Evangel Full Gospel Assembly will feature everyone desiring to praise the Lord in song. Singing time is 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

Friday

  • FAMILY FUN NIGHT Holy Family School is sponsoring a family fun night on Fri., April 22 from 6-10 p.m. There will be games, food, face painting and they will have their first “Draw Down” raffle. The public is invited and admission is free.
  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pickup information.

Saturday

  • SPRING REVIVAL Rising Star is having a revival with Rev. Ronnie Strong from New Independence Baptist Church at 7 p.m.
  • Benefit program for Vanessa Coleman Brown, 6 p.m. at Newell Chapel CME Church. It will be sponsored by family and friends.
  • PTA BANQUET H.W. Byers PTA banquet, April 23, 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
  • DOG SCHOOL Beginner obedience classes for dogs begin again, as spring arrives. A six-week canine obedience course offered by K-9 Search One will begin at 9 a.m., Sat., April 23, at the Holly Springs Fire Dept. For registration fees and info., please call Judy Otto, 252-1004.
  • GENEALOGY MEETING The Marshall County Genealogical Society will meet Saturday morning, April 23, at 10 a.m., in the meeting room of the Marshall County Library. Jim Power has arranged for Dr. Dee Canale, of Memphis,  to speak on the topic, “Civil War Medicine.” Ruthanne Jenkins will be hostess for the meeting.

  • FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM Rising Star is having a special program with Rev. Smith from Paradise Baptist Church, Omaha, Nebraska, 2:30 p.m.
  • MEN & WOMEN’S DAY Sun., April 24, 2:30 p.m. Mt. Sinai COGIC has been postponed until a later date.
  • SUPER SUNDAY PROGRAM Kimbrough Chapel Church, Sun., April 24, 2 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. J.W. Smith Jr. is pastor.
  • Youth Day Program at Community Temple Holiness Church will be held during the morning worship service. Dinner will be served. Host Pastor is Elder Frank Moore, sponsored by Tyrone Moore and Youth Department.
  • MEN’S DAY Free Branch MB Church will have their annual Men’s Day, Sun., April 24, 2:30 p.m. Guest will be Pastor Ronnie Franklin of Greenwood MB Church. Pastor Marvin Brooks is host pastor.
  • CONCERT Paid In Full will be in concert on Sun., April 24, beginning at 6 p.m. at Red Banks Baptist Church. No admission charge; a love offering will be received. The church is located just north of Hwy 78 at the Red Banks exit. Bro. Troy Defer, pastor, Bro. James Overton, minister of music.
  • Revival Sunday April 24, at Holly Hills Baptist Church in Holly Springs. Bro. Rhodes from Georgia will be preaching. Services start Sunday morning at 11 a.m.and go through Wednesday night. Evening services start at 7 p.m.
  • SINGING The Glass family from Nashville, Tenn. will be singing April 24 at the Sunday morning services at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 3115 Old Pigeon Roost Rd., Byhalia.

April 30

  • YOUTH CONFERENCE Holly Springs and Rust College to host 13th annual youth conference June 3-5. This event is open to the public and a pre-registration fee of $65 is due before April 30. For more information call 662-252-1808 or 662-544-1742, Bennie Braswell, Jr.
  • FLEA MARKET The Northwest Side Civic Club in Harmontown is hosting a Flea Market April 30, 7 a.m. Venders are invited. Outside booths are available for $10. Inside booths are available for $20. All booths are first come, first serve. Please contact Sherry Moore at 662-526-5773 by April 23, to reserve your booth. Concessions will be open at 6 a.m. for breakfast.
  • CHOIR REUNION Finley Grove MB Church will have a choir reunion of reunions, Sat., April 30, 6 p.m.; 2203 North West St. Everyone is invited.   • HOMECOMING New Hope MB Church invites the public to their 41st annual homecoming, Sun., May 1, 2 p.m. The Rev. Keith Pendilton, pastor of Mt. Zion Taska MB Church will be the speaker. Rev. Earnest Jones, pastor. Beverly Phillips and Martha Ayers are sponsors.
  • MISSIONARY DAY Newell Chapel CME Church Missionary Society will have their annual missionary day program, Sun., May 1. Sis. Debra Smith will be the 11 a.m. speaker; Rev. Morris Stephens and College Hill CME Church will be the 2:30 guests. Everyone is invited.
  • OUTSTANDING STUDENTS The ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority announce the outstanding students of Marshall County program, May 1, 6:30 p.m. at Rust College in the Doxey auditorium. Small donation at the door.

  • BANQUET The Lessye Lee Davis Banquet will be held at Rust College, Shaw Cafeteria, 7 p.m. The speaker is Dr. David L. Beckley. All members must attend; take off work if necessary. Tickets: $15 to be paid by April 29.
  • VFW FISH PLATES Fish and barbecue plates will be served at the VFW, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m. until 1. Also we will be taking orders for whole Boston butts; call 224-5101.

  • Appreciation/Birthday Celebration for church mother, Lettie Moore, 6:30 p.m. will be held at Community Temple Holiness Church on Mt. Zion Road. Donation: $25 adults, children no charge. Host pastor is Elder Frank Moore; chairperson is Jacqueline Scott.
  • Singing Sat. May 7 at 6 p.m., at Holly Hills Baptist Church. The church is located in Holly Springs, off of Hwy 7 towards Oxford. Featured groups are The Philinda’s Ministry and The Solid Rock Four. Preaching will be Bro. Danny Mosley. Fellowship will follow. Bro Frank and church invite all to come and enjoy.
