Russells to celebrate 50th anniversary Saturday

Hello Snow Lakers: I hope you had a good week. I appreciate the South Reporter running a short notice for me since I was out of town. I really wasn’t on vacation; not the fun kind. I was taking care of some family business in Somerville and my neice came down to help me. She is 16 years younger than I am and she worked me to a frazzle. But, she was lots of help.

Joe McCrady is home from the hospital and I hope he is doing much better. Mary Lorenz is doing better since she fell a couple of weeks ago. She is at home recuperating. Also, Walter Lorenz, Mary’s husband is back in senior care in the nursing home. Don Glasser, on Snow Lake Drive is having eye surgery soon. Good luck to all of our sick folks. We extend our sympathy to Betty Garrison whose granddaughter died a few weeks ago. Betty lives on Snow Lake Drive. We are thinking of you and your family. If you know of anyone who is sick or needs help please call Sue Wooley Graves, 224-3264. If you know of someone I have missed, please call me at 224-3913.

Don’t forget! We need items for the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary Garage Sale on May 7, at the Ashland Discount Outlet on Hwy. 4. Save your discards for us. We only have a few weeks. You can take them directly to the store or call me at 224-3913, or Jane Edwards at 224-3435. Also, on the same day we will have a bake sale at Webster’s Grocery beginning at 8 a.m. Someone will call asking for your donation of a cake - if no one calls, just call Jane Edwards, 224-3435, and tell her you want to make one. Don’t forget to buy your cookbook.

The Bluegrass Committee is getting in full swing for our celebration on June 25. More details will follow. However, if you are a crafter and want to reserve a booth, please call me at 662-224-3913, Laurie Pierpont, 224-0065; or Billy Morton, 224-3223.

There are a lot of things going on around Snow Lake. We need volunteers for several committees. Won’t you call us at 224-3050?

Recently Carmen Cohn volunteered to serve on the environmental committee. Thanks Carmen. We are trying to form a Neighborhood Watch program and we need volunteers. We are looking for persons to check on the neighbors around them via phone or stopping by. They will be called ‘Block Captains.’ The next meeting will be after the Town Meeting on May 5. The Town Meeting will be at 7 pm.

Congratulations! Magda and Crue Russell of Lake View Drive will celebrate 50 years of marriage on April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Zaman Grotto, 7818 Holmes Rd. in Germantown, Tenn. Family and friends are invited to celebrate with them.

The Corporation has been feeding the fish so we should be able to make a big catch. They also removed a half sunken house boat from a resident’s boat dock, and removed it from Raccoon Cove.

Coming Events:
Saturday, April 16 - 7-9 a.m. Breakfast followed by the Corporation meeting at 9 a.m.

Saturday, Apr. 23 - 6:30 p.m. Potluck

Saturday, May 7 - 8 a.m. Garage Sale and Bake Sale

Remember, guests are always welcome to come to any of our events.

Also, remember, the Community Center is available for rental for a party, etc; just contact Emily Koen 224-8707.

Have a good week, and hope to see you next week.
